The Finance Awards Wales are an annual recognition of the talented individuals and businesses that make up the financial landscape in Wales.
Amongst this year’s winners – which included financial directors, payrollers and business teams – was Jed Lewis, who was crowned Finance Apprentice of the Year.
Jed, who works at Transport for Wales, has been working towards his finance qualifications with training provider ALS.
He was originally recruited as an apprentice within the railway operators undertaking a Level 2 qualification in Accounting (AAT).
Once this was completed, he progressed to Level 4. While it is unusual for learners to advance in this way, Jed’s dedication and work ethic, coupled with the quality of his achievements at Level 2, gave his tutors and line manager confidence that this was the right path for him.
Jed is now working towards completing the qualification with the hopes of progressing to the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Level 4 certification.
Vanessa Hope, Corporate Development Manager at ALS, said: “Jed has shown an incredible dedication to his work, progressing confidently through his studies and showcasing a real talent for the subject.
“We couldn’t think of a more deserving recipient of Finance Apprentice of the Year. We know this will mark the first big achievement in a very successful career for Jed.”
Speaking at the event, Ken Poole, Chair of the Finance Awards Wales judging panel, said: “This year’s winners have shown remarkable talent and commitment to advancing the finance sector in Wales. Their achievements not only highlight individual and corporate excellence but also underscore the vibrant and resilient nature of our finance community.”
