The Level 4 Insurance (Team Leader Pathway) Apprenticeship has been designed with employers in Wales to provide the technical and leadership skills to manage a high performing team in the insurance industry. Providing the technical insurance knowledge and skills alongside the leadership skills to manage the day to day activities of a team of insurance professionals.

Practical and Real-World Learning: Our programme emphasises practical, real-world learning. Apprentices will practice skills in the workplace collaborating with experienced colleagues and supported by ALS professionals who will guide the apprentice through every step of the process.

Tailored Curriculum:  Our comprehensive curriculum is designed to meet the demands of the continually evolving insurance industry. Apprentices will cover essential topics such as regulatory arrangements, managing risk, underwriting, claim management, customer relationship management, team management and developing team performance.

Experienced and Knowledgeable Advisors: Throughout the apprenticeship, we will provide access to a network of experienced advisors who will provide guidance, support, and feedback.

This apprenticeship is made up of a combination of mandatory units and optional units. We will work with you to decide which optional modules are most suited to you and your job role.

Units include:

  • Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility.
  • Lead and manage meetings.
  • Monitor and solve customer service problems.
  • Manage or support equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion in own area of responsibility.
  • Build, support, and manage a team.
  • Develop working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Address performance problems affecting team members.
  • Support individuals to develop and take responsibility for their performance.
  • Manage the achievement of customer satisfaction.
  • Managing the business relationship with clients in a financial services environment.
  • Progressing the underwriting of complex insurance policy alterations and midterm amendments.
  • Carrying out initial assessment and investigating complex insurance claims.
  • Advising and Supporting clients making a claim in complex insurance cases.
  • Making sure of effective recovery in complex insurance claims.

  • Typical duration of 24 months.
  • Induction session for apprentices and for their line managers.
  • 12 full day CII Diploma workshops
  • Supported by self-study online resources.
  • Monthly 1-2-1 sessions to achieve your NVQ
  • 3 exams and 3 assignments for the CII Diploma.
  • 4 Essential skills assessment days. (2 Preparation days and 2 Live Task days)
  • 2 hour long essential skills confirmatory tests.

Essential Skills activities are not applicable to apprentices with exemptions.
