Level 5 Supply Chain Management

Higher Apprenticeship

The level 5 apprenticeship in Supply Chain Management was developed to provide people who contribute to the operation and/or management of supply chain activities across a business and require a qualification that demonstrates they have the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to carry out their roles to a professional standard.

Who is the apprenticeship for?

  • This qualification is ideal for those working with in supply chain management or senior management positions who are looking to develop their operational and logistical skills to an industry-recognised standard.
  • Suitable for those working across a variety of sectors where logistics is part of their daily job role.

The Level 5 Supply Chain Management apprenticeship consists of 10 mandatory units and a selection of optional units including,

  • Provide leadership in supply chain management or a logistic operation.
  • Ensure an effective organisational approach to health and security in supply chain management or a logistics operation.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements in logistics operations.
  • Develop productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders in supply chain management or a logistics operation.
  • Develop a strategic business plan in supply chain management or a logistics operation.
  • Plan change in supply chain management or a logistics operation.
  • Implement change in supply chain management or a logistics operation.
  • Analyse information on the supply chain.
  • Develop and implement operational plans in supply chain management or a logistics operation.
  • Employee rights and responsibilities in the logistics industry.

  • Typical duration of 18 months.
  • Induction session for apprentices and for their line managers.
  • One to One tutor coaching and assessment support sessions in partnership with University of South Wales.
  • Supported by self-study online resources.
  • 6 Essential skills assessment days. (3 Preparation days and 3 Live Task days)

Essential Skills activities are not applicable to apprentices with exemptions

  • EAL Level 5 Diploma in Supply Chain Management
  • Essential Skills Wales (ESW) Level 2 in Communication
  • Essential Skills Wales (ESW) Level 2 in Application of Number
  • Essential Skills Wales (ESW) Level 2 in Digital Literacy

Essential Skills activities are not applicable to apprentices with exemptions.
